OFSAA GOLD!! Julia Pearce became the 5th Cardinal Carter student to win a Gold Medal at OFSAA. The Grade 9 student accomplished the feet in the Vault scoring the highest point total of all competitors in the division. Great Work Julia!
OFSAA Gold Winners. Julia Pearce joined 4 other students from the school who won OFSAA Gold, which is an amazing feat! It puts the winner in a class above all others in their particular competition. Past winners include Frank Klundert for Pole Vault in 1997, Cristiano Mauricio in Track & Field (3000M) in 1997, Christina Taouil in Track & Field (Discus) 1998 and Chris Bolla in Swimming in 1998!
FOOTBALL Champions! The Football Program has produced several Championships since it's inception in 1988! The first team to win a WECSSAA title was the 1993 team Coached by Mark Renaud and then Vice Principal John Celestino. That team defeated the Walkerville Tartans by a score of 15-6 in the Arnott Conference Championship game. The team was led by runningbacks Chris Ippoliti and Chaddy Mouwad along with quarterback Tom Boutros. It took 8 years for the Cougars to win another football title but it was worth the wait as quarterback Kyle Quinlan led the Cougars, in a Wilson Conference Championship game, to a 25-7 victory over the Belle River Nobles. Quinlan, who was a grade 10 student at the time, went on to have a stellar University Career. He won a Vanier Cup as well as a Hec Creighton Award (Outstanding College Football Player in Canada) at McMaster University! The Cougar Junior program decided to join the fun and won a Miller Conference Championship in 2007 by defeating Catholic Central 20-7! The best was yet to come as the Senior Cougars won back-to-back SWOSSAA "AA" Championships in 2013 & 2014!
